The glitz, glam and flood warnings of Prom 2017

I was fortunate this spring to schedule Prom sessions with some beautiful young ladies from the surrounding Springfield communities. Hair appointments, coordinating several couples' schedules and competing for prime locations at popular portrait spots in Sangamon County were just some of the things I was expecting. I did not, however, expect to end up shooting photos in a greenhouse while listening to storm warning alerts and praying I'd be talented enough to provide Bailey with some nice photos.

Triopia's Prom was scheduled for April 27th and for the entire week preceding the dance, all weather forecasts predicted rain...and more rain...and flood warnings were in effect. The day arrived and for once, the weatherman was correct. No one wants to resort to indoor photos with bad lighting but when torrential rain (no kidding here) is falling, there aren't many options. Except...what about the local greenhouse? One quick call to Heiderscheit's greenhouse in Beardstown and we were all set for a 3:30 photo session.

Bailey arrived to deep puddles of standing water, lightning and horrible wind. But the owners of the greenhouse were so accommodating and allowed us to take photos in any of the houses we wished. Not one time did Bailey complain...not once did she whine about the rain potentially ruining her hair...or the 2 inches of sand that covered the bottom of her dress. She smiled, posed and made this photographer's day!!! Special thanks to Heiderscheit's Market & Greenhouse for allowing us to capture such beautiful memories for Bailey. I'll be a customer for life.
